Black smoke from exhaust,lack of power

my logan 1.5 dci ,done 21000 kms, started emitting black smoke a few days back.The check engine light did not light up.Had the EGR VALVE cleaned today.slight reduction in black smoke but experiencing loss of power.The technician said smoke was due to the carbon deposit in the muffer & would dissappear after some time .He did not notice any loss of power.Please help me!!!!

it could be caused due to a dodgy injector i would get that checked hope this helps
