Car: Renault Koleos

Variant: 2.0 4x4
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
Hi , i think i have a problem. the p light (handbreak light) goes off when im driving then when i turn the car off and lock it the p light remains on, the handbrake is working fine, its a real pain as i think it drains the battery! all this happend after my wipers seized and jammed mid way, i didnt think any thing of it just thought they were broke went in to work and when i came out a few hrs later the motor had been trying to correct itself the whole time ,drained the battery and burnt itself out, im now stuck with this light on and dont know if realising the manual handbreak would reset this or could this cause more problems, ive been off the road 4 weeks now and is a nightmare.pluss trying to find a wiper motor is proving to be soo hard, skint and looking for an answer haha....

Can't see a H/brake light on the dash draining the battery.
But isn't that vehicle Electric operated parking brake?
If that's faulty then the h/brake servo could be cycling and draining the battery down,
Get it checked.
As fro the wiper try a breakers yard or Ebay for a new motor.
But be advised at least half the so called faulty wiper motors I've done turned out to be seized operating mechanics.

Hiya , yes it's an electronic handbrake, omg I'm pulling my hair out, I've tryed all beakers only Renault can supply the motor, thing is I don't want to spend money on that if this light is going to cost me more, a friend run a diagnostic test which showed no faults, hand brake works fab, do you think pulling the manual handbrake could trigger this light to go off or could it cost me dearly?I've called Renault to ask questions but they just want the car to go In I feel that could cost me more! I ordered a motor from overseas when it arrived look beautiful but couldn't fit as was on the other hand!

Ow and the mechanism was stuck solid after hrs of manipulation and soaking it in duck oil it's free and like new

I did tell you!
Sided motors often use the same actual motor for left or right H drive so are interchangeable.
Going back the light could be from a faulty switch.
Battery drain is probable from the seized wiper linkage as the system is cycling trying to get the wipers to the park point on the screen.

Bizarre but the motor was also handed and in no way was going to fit in the old linkage, would it still drain even with the motor and linkage off?, we have taken them off whilst trying to repair them and it still drains. The guy in Renault suggested that the handbrake computer may had failed and would cost 1800 to fix! But the handbrake works fine, this car is driving me nuts,
