Engine fan wont turn off

2001 Renault Clio 1.9 diesel
Car: Renault Clio
Year: 2001
Variant: 1.9 diesel

Over the cold period my Car just wouldnt start so I bought a new battery and put it in. The car still wouldn't catch. Ir was turning over but wouldn't start. I left it overnight and thought would try again in the morning. I did that and tha battery completely exploded. I replaced it with another battery but the engine fan won't turn off. I have to disconnect and reconnect everytime I get in and out of the car. Someone told me it's probably the relays. How do I fix this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

never known a battery to explode like that for no apparent reason, did you have the right battery for the car and was it connected correctly?the problem with the fan sounds like the fan control module or the fan switch in the rad

A faulty battery or an overcharging battery causing build up of gases may have caused this .Might be advisable to check alternator output if having any further probs with battery .

Perhaps try all the connections that you took off when you disconnected the battery, I know they are only flimsy plastic so you don't want to break them but if they are loose it can cause them to do silly things, that make it look like the central relay unit is kerput.

My glowplugs wouldn't turn off after the battery was disconnected, we thought the central relay unit was faulty but it turned out a connection was loose. It's worth checking as it the relay units are not cheap.
