3000 rpm!

Anybody know what my problem might be?

Put my key in the ignition this morning and the car was a lot louder than normal - it sounded like I was doing 90 down the motorway. . .

when i looked at my rpm dial it was showing at 3000 sitting idle!

what's the problem?

Could be idle air control valve stuck open or may be air leak somewhere on the induction system, was the management light on?
