2003 Renault Clio rattling sound when excellorate

my car has started making a rattling/ clattering sound when car excellorates (either in idol or moving in a high geer), it sounds like its coming from my drivers side, under bonnet. also when driving in 5th at speed car feels heavy. and geers are stiff. Any suggestions?

usual is cat heat shield rev up to make noise then press shield with screwdriver see if noise changes.check gear lincage isnt fouling on exhaust etc
