2005 Renault Clio radio sound distroted and nisey

Hi there can anyone help, tea was split on top of my dashboard and sortly afterwards there was a burny smell and the radio sound went noisey and distorted. I changed the radio unit but this has no effect sound still bad. Is the something else in behind that would cause this.

sounds more like a speaker problem.
