2007 Renault Clio intermittent airbag and/or door lock

Car: Renault Clio
Year: 2007
Variant: 1.5 Diesel
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
On longer (>40mins) journeys, my Clio starts to develop intermittent faults. Generally either the passenger airbag or passenger lock. The fault light will come on for a few seconds, then go off. The next time will come on a little longer and then go off. It'll keep staying on longer until it stays on continuously.

The last time this happened I finished a long (>3hrs) journey with the airbag light on continuously. When I turned and removed the key to turn off the engine. the engine and lights all stayed on. I had to stall the car to stop the engine. After about 20mins the lights turned off and then everything was fine again. I've been using the car fine again since

Any ideas?

Could be faulty ignition switch .When engine wont switch off try jiggling the key in ignition barrel .Passenger lock could be the micro switch which is part of lock .Sometimes spraying with the likes of WD40 can cure it .Check any connections / wiring under passenger seat for airbag fault .
