2006 Renault Clio electrical problem ?

Car: Renault Clio
Year: 2006
Variant: 1.2 Extreme
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
Was driving my Clio home yesterday (86,000 miles on clock) and charge warning light came on. Stopped engine, restarted and it light disappeared.

Arriving at home charge warning light came on again, again I stopped engine and restarted and again light went out. Took car up road for a quick test run later and charge warning light came on again after 6 miles. As before, stop engine, restart and light goes off again.

This morning on way to work, after about 7-8 miles, light comes on again and stopping engine and restarting once again causes light to go off.

One way home tonight - no charge warning light illumination but ABS warning light now decides to put in an intermittent appearance just a short distance from home! I also notice rear wiper running more slowly than usual. Upon arrival at home air bag warning light also lights up intermittently but still no show from charge warning light.

Battery or alternator fault ? I suspect the alternator drive belt is a little slack as it has had a tendency to squeal a little bit under gentle/moderate acceleration for some time.

Thoughts ?
