2007 Renault Clio boot not unlocking / locking

I've had a similar problem just on the boot lid (un)locking. If you can hear it clicking when pressing the key fob, at least you know the power is there to the lock; if not check the fuses. If you can hear it clicking then i may be that the lock housing has been damaged and the gears a misaligned as its only made of plastic and can get damaged by trying to open the boot and unlocking it at the same time. If thats the case th best solution is to replace the mechanism, though getting at it is a bit tricky when the boot is closed.
