since headgasket has been replaced there seems to be no oil getting to tappets. oil pressure seems to be ok.but now it sounds like a diesel loud knocking from tappets any idears.Gasket is the right way and all of the oil ports are clear

Can't see any other way but take the head off again, remove the cam drives and spin it over to see "if" any oil is coming up the main gallery.
I'd have the cams out and blow compressed air down the head feed as well.bummer,I know but better than a scrap motor!

locating the noise is key, you may have a sticky valve or a broken, weakened valve spring. Run the engine with the tappet cover off and rest a piece of wood on the tappets in turn using fairly light pressure (do not lean on them). The faulty one should go quieter.

if your car is fitted with hydrolic tappets they might be what we call dry , remove car and lift the buckets off apply a small amount of engine oil to inside and replace after changing head gaskets it is a common problem , i my self have been caught out once lol and only once there is no other way off getting oil in there apart from popping bucketand poss shims out but make sure they all go back in the same position or your valve clearances will be messed up and then that is greif but check valves are opening and colsing by manulally turning the bolt in the end of the cfrank shaft first
