I have put a new thermostat in the car as it wasn't heating up properly but since the new thermostat has been fitted the car warms up when idling but start to drive it and the temperature guage goes down to cold again

Recheck coolant level and bleed heater if needed .Check hoses going to heater are both warm .

Does sound like air in the system as previously suggested or a blockage.
