2002 Peugeot 806 blck smoke no power

on idle now and then the car would go in limp mode and after a few miles of slowly bulding speed it would throw out black smoke and then you would here the whistle on the turbo i think and it would take off as normal you would here the whistle and it would drive perfect now all of a sudden on motorway lost power managed to get it home throwing out black smoke .now it starts perfect on idle but now no power constant throwing out smoke/cannot here the whistle and undrivable .been told its hdi unit gone/turbo .

Sounds like your Turbo is shot replacement with a new one is prob the only answer sorry

Yup, that sounds right on the button. Without the extra air intake via the turbo, the engine is strangling on too much fuel being metered in.
