Peugeot 5008 radio gps display not working

Car: Peugeot 5008
Variant: 1.6
Model Year: 2013
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
The radio makes a whirring sound about every 15 seconds. Gps doesn't come on fully, I can see a little light in it when it's dark though. Everything else works fine. About a month ago I turned off the radio when I parked and it hasn't worked since. I checked most of the fuses, including radio/gps fuse, thy're ok. I removed the radio, disconected everything from it, checked the 15amp fuse in back of radio and it is okay as well. Reconnected all wires, same issue. A/C- heat works ok, everything else works fine in the vehicle. Anyone have any ideas/solutions, I'd appreciate you sharing. Thanks in advance..! Hyden.

Did you bench test the radio when you had it out and was it working o.k ?

Sure it's the radio ? try switching off heater / aircon and see if noise stops

Hi, thanks for yoyr reply. Sorry, but I have no idea what a bench testing is. Actually, I still have the radio half out. Just reconnected the wires to see if I did anything useful. Another guy had said that he disconnected and reconnected the wirings and then his radio/gps worjed flawless fro 3 yeard. Thought I'd try the same but no luck, unfortunately.

@Whittingeheme, It is the radio/gps that are not functioning (turning on). I've tried pressing any and all buttons everyway possible.

Bench testing is hooking the radio up to a battery outwith the car . Was going to suggest it could be a faulty on/ off switch and try operating it a good few times but you seem to have tried that . Thanks..! I did check fuse #8 and several others, but not all of them. The ones I checked were okay. Will check the rest of them too just to make sure they are all okay. Guess I'll do that tomorrow. Thank you for your help..!

Well, after doing some research on internet and youtube, it most likely seems to be corrupted firmware. Took the radio out today and opened it took a look at the 8gb sd card, put it back in, hooked the radio back with all the connections and it does the same thing. Took the radio out again and planning on replacing the sd card and hopefully I can find the updated firmware to install it. Hope I can figure all that out on how to do it. Will keep you posted. Thanks again..!

Strongly thinking about ordering a 32gb sd card and a cd that includes the 2.86 Rt6 gps update/upgrade. This is recommended by several youtube videos with the identical problem. There is a guy who gives links to ebay to order the 32sd card and anither linc to the 2.86 cd, which is abou 15 Euro's + whatever the sd card is. I'm curious if anyone has done this with the radio/gps..? If yes, would love to hear from you. P.S. I took the radio apart. There is a 8gb sd card inside the radio. I put it in my laptop, the program is there but no way to tell if it's corrupted or not. From what I can understand in yt videos, the new 32gb card should be blank and installed in the radio, after that the cd with the 2.86 upgrade is to be inserted in the cd player. I gues the system then loads the program from the cd to the new sd card in the radio autmatically. Have I got it right..? Thanks..!

Haven't a clue , never watched the videos . No doubt there would have been umpteen updates in the 9+ yrs you have had the car . Whether that will resolve your issues , cant say
