2000 Peugeot 406 speedo works intemittently

While driving there is a slight drop in power and the speedo drops to zero. after a short period the power comes back and the speedo is back working again.
Sometimes in the morning on start up everything is fine, but when i stop for a paper and turn the engine off the speedo is back to zero again when I move off.

I have the same problem!! Havent looked into it yet but suspect its the transducer in the gearbox. About £40 i think..
