Hi all,

My Car Peugeot 406 Estate, 2.0L Petrol , 2002 Model (Automatic)

For the last 2 weeks I am getting a warning message on the display. It says

"completor nivel aceite motor"

Can anyone please let me know what this is about (my guess is that it is something to do with motor oil) and what I can do to fix this? Is this going to be expensive?

Thanks

Checked engine oil level ?

Answered May 24, 2011 (12 years ago)
Yes, the engine oil level is OK.
It ic confirmed by internal display check as well.
The car runs OK (it has been for last 2 weeks).
The only issue that i have is that i do not understand the display warning!

Has any one had similar warning message before?

Thanks

Could be a faulty oil level warning sensor ?
Answered May 24, 2011 (12 years ago)
Apparently the oil level sensors fail reqularly on these

" Oil low warning."

This is a well known issue. What surprises some folk is that the manufacturer has not dealt with this classic design failure once and for all.
Our 406 (2.0L HDi 2003 in Oz) varies from "truth in reporting" to "absolute crap" and the only way anyone should manage is to lift the bonnet and look at the engine compartment, and also on the ground where the car stands overnight --- and of course --- USE THE DIPSTICK.
These days, I look upon the information with some anticipation --- a bit like a game of roulette really. Will the car make me act against my current knowledge, or will I just drive away?

Thanks, I will try and get it checked.
Do you agree that this message is to do with engine oil? As far as i know, the display message means the following.

completor= complete?
nivel= ?
aceite motor = motor oil

I may be wrong and would like someone to confirm that i am thinking along the right lines.

do you have your display configured to display in french? It may be a software issue with the bsi. A download can sometimes sort it out.

change the language on the display with the buttons on it
