1996 Peugeot 406 driver side door stuck after very cold spell

I cannot open driver side front door from outside OR inside. I can hear solenoid shunting in and out. It has been like this for nearly fortnight.

Need to strip down door and check the internal linkage , see if solenoid is sticking .
