Blow heater not working

can anyone tell me what could be wrong with my heater, sometimes it works on cold air but will not blow hot air. the engine is not overheating..thanx

When you say " sometimes it works on cold air " , do you mean the fan is not working ?Is it two faults , fan not working and no heat also ?
