1999 Peugeot 406 engine switching off

hi guyz. my car is gear one and not automatic. the problem i have is that when i step on the clutch while in motion to shift or change the gears the vehicle engine switches off for a second or completelty and i have to sitch on again and all this is in motion. what could be the cause? clutch problem or ? will appreciate your advice. good day

sounds like idle control stepper motor fault.assuming of course it is a petrol engine
