2002 Peugeot 406 2l hdi lx estate

Had ecu read by several devices bur nothing is coming up. Engine light has been on a long time. Have tried about 5 times now to see what the brain of this car says. ..Won't fire when starting...had various diagnoses such as fuel pump and crank sensor which have been changed etc. Yes have bled pump thru. If I buy an ecu ... how do I go about changing it? Is it as simple as plug and play?

No they're coded.
Get someone capable to check the power and grounds on the ECU.
If there's a fault in the wiring then the ECU won't power up.
So there'd be no communication with any diagnostic device.
On a brighter note the engine management light is controlled by the ECU so it's clearly part working.
Get the three letter from the vin number and I'll post which terminal to test,
Your looking for RHS OR RHY RHZ.

when you say nothing comes up do you mean you cannot access any systems at all i.e communicate with the vehicle
