My rear wheels are locked

2003 Peugeot 406 Auto
Car: Peugeot 406
Year: 2003
Variant: Auto
Categories: Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres
I have not driven the car for a few weeks. When I tried to the other day, there was huge resistance. I drove it a few yards and a passer buy said that there was smoke coming from my rear wheels. There was a white line track on the road where my tyres had been driven. What causes wheels to lock like this? Help!

You either have a problem with the wheel bearings, or more likely the handbrake shoes are wedged on tight. Although the handbrake lever is down the cable is probably slack somewhere along the line.

what you have here is the shoes in the drum have bonded them selfs to the drum some times they will free them selfs of by driving the car but if that doesnt work then they will have to be stripped down cleaned up and replaced again
