Engine oil dipstick will not go back in, jams about half way in

The engine oil dipstick will not go more than half way back in to the tube, it just stops dead and no amount of pressure will shift it any further. Any advice would be of help.

Maybe requires cleaned and lubricated,do not force it.

You dont say what engine . Remove dipstick tube and check for blockage / fault.
