I had a 2001 406 1.9HDI last Year and found it very weak when compared to different Car's. I think it is the nature of these units to be this way as I also drove another persons 2004 Car and it was no livelier than mine. "If it aint broken dont fix it".They drive dead by nature as far as I am aware and apart from that they are an excellent Car.

I forgot to mention in my previous reply that I found on my Car that there was a slackness in the Accelerator Cable under the Bonnet. It struck me as a poor arrangement for keeping the Cable taut and I was able to adjust my Acc Cable by 3 or 4 notches - this made a big difference to the performance of the Car.
