1998 Peugeot 406 odometer blank

odometer went blank suddenly.Checked all fuses and are ok.Looks like a ,(1), bulb behind speedo is gone as well, but cant see connection to odometer!The radio was getting very hot so took it out,dont know if this has bearing on the problem?Tnx

check the earth strap from the engine/gear box to the car body, could also be the alternator playing up.
