2001 Peugeot 406 central locking problem

Car: Peugeot 406
Year: 2001
Variant: 2,0 HDI Estate
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights
The remote has not worked for some time on my Key. Now the Key just spins around in a circle in either the Driver's or Passenger's Door but does not open the Car. To open the Car currently I open the Boot Door with the Key (this is the only Lock it works in) then I crawl in to the back of the Car and unlock either the Driver or Passenger's Door from the inside and this in-turn opens the other Door's with the Central Locking. To Lock the Car I close the Driver's Door, open the offside rear Door, reach in and Lock the Driver's Door from the inside which in turn lock's all the Door's with the Central Locking, then I close the offside rear Door. Any suggestions how I can sort this as it is a pain in the posterior currently.

I got it sorted by doing the following.Firstly I should say that when the Barrell was spinning the Key was not fully inserted. With the Key fully inserted the Barrell's were not turning at all. I inserted a good bit of WD40 into the passenger door Barrell and it came free having left it overnight. The driver's Door did not respond in the same manner. I took off the Door Card (see how to do same on youtube) and removed some of the waterproof covering from the door to access the Barrell and Lock area. I dropped the door lock out of position and this allowed me to move it up and down. By this movement I was able to ascertain that the Central Locking mechanism would work off of the lock if the connecting bar coming down fron the Barrell was moving. i.e. by holding the Lock in my hand and moving the Lock up and down I was able to make the contact necessary to Lock and Unlock the Doors via the Central Locking. You need to make sure that you manually put the lever in the Lock into the "door closed" position for this to work. With the Lock dangling inside the Door the Barrell still would not turn. I then undid the one nut holding the Barrell in position and was abe to manipulate the Barrell down into the Door. I then unhooked the connecting rod from the Barrell and was able to remove it from the Door for inspection. I do not claim any great credit for this but there was a tiny piece of metal twisted out of position in the Barrell and it more or less fell back into it's right orientation when I had the Barrell in my hand. If it had not I would have been able to take the Barrell to a Locksmith for inspection at this point. By securing the Lock in position I would have been able to close the Door properly while driving the Car.With the Barrell now working as it should I put it and the Lock bsck in position and tested that the Central Locking was working off of the Driver's Door and yes it was. I then reinstated the Window guide rail and checked the Window was operating ok - which it was. Then refit the Door Card and other bits. Of any Door Card's I have ever taken off I would rate it as one of the easiest to remove and reinstate.
