1998 Peugeot 406 car wont start, not cranking

Try turning engine by hand in case it is knackered .

Engine won't turn, but the starter seems live

could you please help if there is any other way of un-knacking the engine as it cannot be turned by hand neither. is it not possible to do it by opening somewhere

If enough water has went into the engine it can do serious damage known as hydraulicing . Common damage is bent con rods . You could try draining engine oil / water .

Ive had three cars recovered today by rac,All have engine damage due to water, worringly the recovery chap said of one car its turning over there can,t be much wrong! Make sure you get all the water out of the vehicle intake manifold .filter,cylinder bores,intercooler if fitted before even attemptig to start it.

Now the engine turns half revolution and gets stuck after forcing it via the crank pulley. Will now try removing the oil and water

Still, it won't turn even after draining the oil make water

Have you checked the timming in case it,s jumped the belt,Due to the water in the cylinders.
