Advised I’d need a new engine on 3008 after doing only 40000 miles. Loud ticking noise when driving…

Better and safer to get a second opinion , Really depends on " ticking noise " , on some cars it can be a hydraulic valve lifter / tappet sticking which is not a major job to replace . If that was the case , sometimes adding valve lifter cleaner to engine works also but all depends what is causing the noise
