2013 Peugeot 3008 auto snatching when starting off

The initial snatch from stationery i.e after selecting drive from a parked / neutral / reversed position is severe. Only going into first gear to drive not when slowing to halt.
It doesn't occur when remaining in drive. Only moving off from stopped at traffic lights halted position.
Not once in motion when moving through the gears.
Similar to previous owner this is intermittent some journeys bad, sometimes hardly noticeable, and even within a single journey.
It can happen on first start up i.e. engine cold or during journey when warmed up.
It has been going on for some time now and not worsening though the severe snatch on the drive cannot being doing any good, to say the least.

Not sure of mileage and servicing history on car , but might be worthwhile getting the gearbox oil checked / changed .
