2017 Peugeot 3008 unable to connect phone by bluetooth

I am unable to connect phone as the bluetooth option is not available. screen also cuts off and reboots intermittently. Done latest software update but no joy. Read somewhere that a new receiver unit is £850 plus vat- seems crazy for a phone connection?

A lot of complaints about this , dont know what the answer is but some who changed their phones to iPhone 11 said it cured the fault . Whether true or not . cant say .

Sadly have tried many different phones with same issue. There is obviously an issue with the receiver unit but the cost is just beyond my budget to fix. I cannot believe any design would have a component repair cost that high for a phone connection.
