1996 Peugeot 207 turning over but wont start

i drove car in the morning, no problems... went to start it later that day and its turning over but would not start, i had lights, electric windows worked and dash lights but non start. called out recovery fuses all ok but diesel is not going through the fuel pump to the engine. car taken to garage. garage managed to start it by bypassing the pump then left for few hours and wouldnt start again, guy said i may have a leak can this be bypassed or do i have to find £700.00 for a new fuel pump. only had the car a year...
