Displays gearbox faulty and jerks and grinds as I’m driving. If in traffic it “stalls” and I cannot accelerate or reverse. Constant problem

You need to get it scanned for fault codes to see what has triggered the warning . Could be a multitude of faults , a local independent auto transmission specialist will be able to road test / examine and give you a report and rough cost of fixing
