Main system fault

2007 Peugeot 207 1.6 sport auto

Driving back from Dorset this morning to Surrey. All fine until I slowed down to merge on to M25, then audio beep & a message on the display telling me 'main system fault'. This happened again a few minutes later. The display then cleared & I finished my journey with no further problems. Any ideas what this could be & should I book the car in for investigation.
