2008 Peugeot 207 Mplay
Car: Peugeot 207
Year: 2008
Variant: Mplay
Categories: Gearbox & Clutch
Hi, my Peugeot 207 broke down today and I'm trying to identify the problem, the clutch when stationary and put in gear will get stuck in gear and the clutch pedal has become harder to press down is this the cable? Thanks in advance

If it has a master cyl and slave cyl it wont have a cable suggesting clutch assembly af fault .

How do I know if its a cable or cylinder?

Look at pedal and see if cable hooked on or a push rod for hydraulic master cyl . Probably hydraulic at that year .

its Hydraulic. Its not necessarily the clutch but get it checked out at a garage

Right we've had two people look at it one says its the dual mass flywheel as the clutch is vibrating another has said it doesn't have dmf on our Peugeot model and is the clutch? Does it have a dmf it's a petrol 2008 model

if its an Mplay 1.4 8 valve petrol then it doesn't have a Dual mass flywheel

Sometimes the clutch just has to be inspected.
Right now oddly I have a Partner in for a clutch that was/is so heavy it almost couldn't be driven and at this point the gearbox still isn't out!
Best guess at this point is rust/contamination on the gearbox spline shaft and possible damage on the clutch pressure plate fingers.
But I'll guess I'll see once the box is out.
I keep posting.

Pull the box and all your questions will be answered.

Well as suspected the fingers of the clutch radial pressure plate were worn to almost the point of right through,
The release bearing was dry and seized and in two pieces.
And the spline shaft was contaminated.
Basically the major parts of the clutch were shot.
Only way to do this is riding the left foot on the pedal.
And as a result of all this this job booked in at around 5-6 hours is now standing at over 8 hours and only half way done.
So like I stated in previous post sometimes the only way is to remove the box and actually LOOK inside at the clutch.
Not saying yours is as bad as this one but to be honest this isn't the first time I've come across this type of clutch/gearbox fault.
