Engine management system fault and headlights flickering

The engine management system fault alert will come on when the engine is started, but not every time. Also when driving with the headlights on they will flicker or dim slightly. They will do this even when driving along normally, without braking or accelerating etc.
Had a couple of trips to the garage but only been told that it's a wire that is loose and has been replaced. Haven't yet paid until the problem is fixed, any suggestions of the cause?

Having replaced the loose wire , is the fault now cured ?

The problem has not been fixed by replacing a loose wire.

Have they scanned it for codes , checked all earths especially from engine / gearbox to body ?

Apparently so, they said 'they have not found any serious faults' in the logged codes and I'm unsure of the depth that they have looked into the wiring.

You need to go to a garage who like me is equipped with Peugeot Planet diagnosis.
P.P. means I can scan the Body Systems interface (a black box that actually controls the lights) for any stored fault codes.
And using P.P I could activate the lights from my laptop.
that checks the signal from the BSI To the lights.
Without P.P. all they can do is guess.
And guessing with modern cars gets you where you are,
back where you started.

Additional.
there are separate earth/ground points for either headlight.
left and right .
So I'm still with power feed from the BSI.
It needs P.P scanned.

I would check the under bonnet fuse box for signs of water ingress from the washer pump.
