The Radio turns on but the control buttons do not work?

Could be a faulty set . Sometimes disconnecting the battery terminal for 30 mins and then reconnecting clears some fault when system  reboots up .

Thanks for your suggestion.  I have just tried this, but the problem with the radio still remains.  If you have any more ideas, please let me know.  I may just have to live with a faulty radio and clock.

Long shot but could check fuse 

11	15	Audio equipment - 12 V socket (120 W max)

Thank you for your advice,would the radio turn on if the fuse was faulty? Also would a code reader/scanner be useful in finding the fault?
