1998 Peugeot 106 flickering oil and temp lights on idle

Car: Peugeot 106
Year: 1998
Variant: 1.4 xl auto
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
After the car has been driven for a while and then brought to a halt the temp and oil lights both flicker simutaneously at idle and when in drive position. If the idle speed is increased the lights go out.It seems to be an electrical thing as the lights flicker in exactly the same way at the same time. Oil level is fine and water temp normal. Please help

Might be a faulty oil pressure switch , quite common with flickering light .If oil and filter not been changed for a while might be worth changing using good quality oil .If none of that helps might just be wear on engine causing low oil pressure .

Thanks for your answer. Hoping it is just switch as the car has only 54k on it. I would like to think there would be no engine wear at that mileage and the car has a good history. Will change oil and filter and switch for pease of mind. Will Let you know the result of that.

Regards Tony.
