1992 Peugeot 106 indicator lights not working when lights are on

when driving at night and the lights are on when i indicate left or right the indicators dont work but the back lights flash instead,the front and side indicators work fine,please help,i have tryed cleaning the earth on the car body.

So is it the back indicators that are not flashing when side lights on ? Doesn't really matter as it is usually the lamp earthing or the lamp holder / assembly that is the cause of this .
