1997 Peugeot 106 accelerator pedal stopped working, possibly the cable?

Car: Peugeot 106
Year: 1997
Categories: Running Rough, Starting & Power Loss
Hi,

The accelerator pedal stopped working on me the other night on the way home. (ended up having to get a tow from my stepdad). So having had a closer look I think it might possibly be the cable? I can pull the cable from the bonnet end and it revs, but there's no revving at the pedal end, so I'm guessing it's snapped somewhere inside?

Is there a way of being able to fix this myself without needing it to go to the garage? I've just paid out over £500 to get it to pass the MOT and a month before that it cost £130 to get the clutch cable fixed, so I really can't afford to be paying out again. Is it possible to do myself?

Its easy enough to change, just watch the clip at the engine end has not come adrift. But if you pull the cable and it comes out it,s broken.Fitting is reverse of removal.
