Electric power steering intermittant failure

On starting the car the power steering seems to work when it wants to. This fault sometimes clears by turning the engine off and retsarting the car.

Has anyone else had this problem and if so whow did you fix it ?

Probably a fauly pump these electric pumps are not the best prone to corrossion,you could sorce a recon. unit ,but check for pwr at the pump when the fault occurs if ok you know the motors goosed.
