car was pulling caravan up m1 pouring rain,started to lose power ,pulled over checked handbrake on van tried to pull away and could only get 20mph.called AA.unhitched van restarted car had no problem?drove home 40miles without van and no concerns please help if you have any ideas.

is it a diesel if so the first thing to do is change the fuel filter
was there any warning lights on?
did it misfire or smooth lack of power?

Was the problem with car or with brakes on van seizing / binding ?

smooth lack of power,then after restarting engine -no problem on way home without van
