Clutch Pedal going soft

2001 Nissan S-Cargo Vanette Cargo 2.3 Diesel Van
Car: Nissan S-Cargo
Year: 2001
Variant: Vanette Cargo 2.3 Diesel Van
Categories: Gearbox & Clutch
Occasionally when changing gear in the Van the Clutch Pedal is extremely soft to press and feels like there is nothing there. Even when this happens the Gear change works as it should. The Van has had very little use for the last six Months or more. What is this problem. Is this something related to the lack of use and it will work itself out or is it something I need to get sorted. Thank you.

Occasionally if the Van has been parked for a few days - It can happen that you press the Clutch (no resistance) but it does not disengage i.e. it does not allow you to change gear. At this point I have two options a, carry on driving in the current gear, b, stop the Van with the Brake pedal and get it to conk out, If I wait 20 > 30 seconds and press the Clutch again it behaves normally ie alows me to change Gear as normal.

The vast majority of the time, as long as the Van is used regularly there are no issues with the Clutch.

Any solutions

Thanks Kevin
