Without checking and hearing exactly the noise , hard to say . With it going in to limp mode , it should have stored a fault code which usually can be retrieved by scanning and then faults corrected as needed

Any decent , reputable independent garage in your area should be able to advise you once they had looked at the car and heard the noise .
