2000 Nissan Elgrand car willl not idle

Runs ok, Starts ok but will not return to idle as revs just drop to zero when accelerator is not depressed. Result is that engine cuts out and power steering is lost. dangerous when in the middle of traffic etc. Took it to the Nissan dealer and they don't seem to have any ideas. any one out there had similar problem that was fixed?

You don't say what size engine in car , petrol or diesel .

Have you cleaned the throttle body with some carb cleaner. Had similar issues with a couple of cars not idling and this solved the problems. A quick and cheap fix !
