Car was put on 'rolling road' for brake test during MOT (garage unaware that I know this), since then car has transmission fault. Sometimes the gears don't engage but after swapping back and forth between gears a few times after a loud clunk gear engages and car lurches violently. Took car immediately back to garage to get problem fixed, garage somehow managed to get forward gear working but have given up on getting reverse gear working, so am now left with no reverse gear! Does anyone have an idea what the problem may be and how I can fix it, also could this problem be linked to the 'rolling road' brake test?

1st off it's not a rolling road it's a brake tester,
works at a simulated 5 MPH/
And every car/van/lorry/motorcycle goes through this test,
If you want to drive it on a public road that is.
So your suggesting that your can't cope with a 5 MPH hard brake!
f that's the case then your car was faulty When it went in for the test and shouldn't have been on the road.
Mot regs are very clear,
the vehicle has to be fit to test,
if it's not then that's down to you.
Not the garage that tested the car.
Now instead of shooting blame around if you want help then it'd be helpful if you stated manual or auto box and I'll try my best to advise.

Not all vehicles can be tested on 'rolling road' brake tester there are a few permanant 4wd vehicles that can be tested in the rollers but not a lot, spinning one axle while the other is stationary causes problems to the transmission sysytem, old MOT computer system advised mechanics what sort brake test to performe on vehicle but the new system has no such information.
4X4 Brake tests should be with either road brake test tapley or decelerometer machine, FACT!

Granted on your points,
but unless the Shogun is very different from the L200 which I mostly work on more there's a 2wd/4wd lever..
So your suggesting they tested it without putting it in 2wd,
I'd suspect the vehicle would leap off the brake tester!
So I ask again manual or auto?

Sorry, thought I already mentioned it was the automatic box.
