High revs on cold start

high ive just bought a shogun 2.5 did,
the owner said it was normal but im not confinced

when cold start the engine revs very high but is fine when the engine is warm its normal idle.

untill i turn the heater fan on the revs pick up again! is this normal.

also the rev counter doesnt work at all!

oh i tried to connect a cheap ecu reader to see if any fault codes but wouldnt connect!

Depends on what you mean by VERY high , but with rev counter not working you wont know .

That is a good bit too high .Really need to get a good scanner with the proper software to see what it throws up in codes otherwise just guessing .Maybe someone else on forum can post up some suggestions to check out that wont cost an arm and a leg .Sorry cant help further on that car .
