On really bad ones I resort to a very little used tool,
A half inch sliding tommy bar and a plug socket obviously.
With the tommy bat half in half out and grabbing both ends it's a case pull/push anti clock/clock in a small movement operation,
Doesn't move much but tightening/slackening back and forth usually works the plug free.
Plenty of release oil and patience.
Worst one fought every Mil coming out and took at least 3 cups of coffee to help.
And don't ask about the gap on the plug when it did come out,
