1991 Mitsubishi Pajero stuck in low range

i put it in low range to go off road and cant get it out of low range i noticed that on the dash where it show what drive your in only displays 3 lights the near side rear light is out the shift is stuck solid

have you tried reversing slowly as this some time works and releases the shift gear
