Gear changing and slow

when you driving seems to be slow in gear changing and lack of power also vibration ,this is the first auto I have owned so don't know if this is normal

Check gearbox fluid level first ,It should all be smooth operation.

Also check condition /colour of ATF .

thanks for that ,I am changing the oil this weekend but now my partner was travelling home tonight and the vehicle sounded terrible it sounded like a loud tappet noise any suggestions

I had to use the 4 wheel today ,put the car in N selected 4 wheel drive the lights lit up on dashboard for 4 wheel plus diff ,I put the car back into N moved the lever back to 2 wheel drive but the lights still keep flashing and it still stays in 4 wheel drive I have put the vehicle wheels straight as it suggest but still no difference ,any information would be gratefully accepted
