1997 Mitsubishi Colt cold start not working.

It has a fuel injection system, not a choke. When I start the engine it will not tick over, I have to keep the revs up until the engine warms up. sometimes after I have driven a few miles the engine will be revving up to 2500 rpm

sounds like a fault with idle control valve
