2004 Mitsubishi Carisma speedometer not working

Car: Mitsubishi Carisma
Year: 2004
Variant: 1.6 elegance Manual
Categories: Electrics, ECU, Warnings & Lights

The speedometer is using the vehicle speed sensor mounted on the gearbox to get the speed info and send it to the ecm, which in turn send the signal via serial comm cable to the dash board.
1st check the socket connection on the speed sensor, then try changing the sensor with a known working one. If you have a wiring diagram it would be wise to check continuity of wires from socket to the ecm before swaping the sensor. If the above doesnt help the problem is in the ecu or dashboard or wiring between the two. Hope this helps
