1993 Mitsubishi 380 car just cuts out

driving back today the car the revs just dropped to 0 then the car cut out wont start but after 5 mins it started this happend 4 times on the way home

2 things spring to mind
1 crank angle sensor when car gets hot electrical sensor breaks down if left to cool for 3-4 mins starts working again
2 coil pack works in the same way but only if all plugs are supplyed by 1 coil if your car has 2 coils then it would missfire badly not cut out
make sure cat doesnt get damaged by missfire
